Contract Manufacturing Specialist

Position Summary:

Coordinate activities of all contract manufacturing activities to ensure that orders are delivered on time, within specifications and at minimal cost.

Must be bilingual in Spanish and English

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist Contract Manufacturing (CM) Manager in Negotiating Contract Manufacturing rates, including preparation of bid packets.
  • Work with product management & Supply Chain Department (SCD) team to ensure adequate contract manufacturing capacity in accordance with strategic plan. Works with SCD and Quality Assurance to qualify new contract manufacturers.
  • Acts as a buyer of raw materials for various contract manufacturing sites
  • Manage the storage of raw materials and finished goods at contract manufacturing sites by setting stocking levels and doing periodic cycle counts, and select carriers for transport. Provide leadership for resolution of raw material, shipping or other operational problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent delays.
  • Monitor performance by tracking costs and other metrics on weekly, monthly and YTD basis; investigate and respond to CPR’s; identify and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Make required transactions in JDE, including Item Setups, bill of material (BOM) and routings. Compile, store, and retrieve production data; produce reports for position customers as needed.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with position customers, and meet customer needs.
  • Assist CM Manager to implement policies and procedures and recommend improvements.
  • Investigate all billing and invoice discrepancies from the contract manufacturers and /or related suppliers. Ensure timely processing of CM orders & shipments.
  • Assist with contract manufacturing site audits, as needed, based on the audit schedule. This includes auditing safety and environmental practices
  • Assist CM Manager in maintain contract manufacturing records as to comply with ISO and SOX requirements.

Education, Experience, Training and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A. or B.S.) in related technical discipline preferred. Persons with an education less than a degree must demonstrate successful related experience and/or training in the area of contract manufacturing.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience.
  • Must have successful work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably related to manufacturing of chemical products or technical knowledge of manufacturing and equipment.
  • Experience with JDE or similar Enterprise software, and experience with shipment of hazardous goods and DOT requirements is also preferred.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk; use hands to finger or handle; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.
  • Must be able to travel by automobile and air to visit contract manufacturing sites in MX, USA and CA. Must be able to don and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by work environment and/or job task (example but not limited to: full/half respirator, safety glasses, goggles, gloves, and steel toes boots). Must be able to traverse oily, slippery or uneven terrains.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is generally working in an office environment. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock, slippery surfaces, and occasionally exposed to loud noise levels.
