Position Summary
Responsible for Product Line Management for assigned portfolio grouping and Global Product Application leadership. The manager drives two distinct workstreams with a focus to define, develop and drive the product strategies in collaboration with customers, suppliers, strategic industry leaders, R&D, Commercial and Marketing groups and support transfer of product and application engineering knowledge both internally and externally to gain market share and build understanding in the targeted application.
This role supports commercialization, training initiatives and shares strategic insights back to the business. The role ensures that the product strategies are effectively executed to deliver market share growth and gross margin improvement objectives by aligning pricing and margin practices, supply chain coordination and partnerships with external and internal stakeholder groups specific to the product lines.
What you will do
- Provides technical leadership and collaborative support for a global product community responsible for product applications management in all aspects of product selection, application, customer support, and optimization of existing product portfolio for the targeted application
- Develops and collaborates with a global product community and resources to provide product and application engineering expertise to optimize customer process performance by recommending best fit (cost/performance) solutions in conjunction with Geographies, COI’s, and D-Laboratories.
- Partners with key stakeholders in Strategy, R&D, Commercial, and the Customer to provide (and align) technical and application support to the frontline sales teams, direct, and indirect customers. This includes product training, product recommendation, problem solving, customer presentations, and trial support.
Specifically, the Lead Global PAM focuses on:
- Providing senior technical support to the frontline sales force.
- Technical product and application related problems referred from the field.
- Identifying & understanding customer needs then translating the objectives to functions in the company.
- Selecting appropriate products from the portfolio to fit w/ business needs and product line strategy.
- Proposing product modifications within agreed criteria to fulfill customer specific needs or requirements.
- Co-ordinating w/ other functions to determine technical feasibility & product cost as input for the final offer.
- Hold presentations to customer on technical/product related subjects in co-operation with commercial.
- Supporting the process of product development between customer and Laboratory.
- Develops and updates multi-year strategic product roadmaps (3-5 years out) for all product lines in the product grouping to respond and anticipate requirements around the world, working closely with business segment leaders, global and region commercial leaders, product stewardship, R&D, and various external partners like OEMs/MTMs, customers and suppliers.
- Serves as the primary interface with relevant COI (Center of Innovation) Laboratory leadership to guide development work to ensure it aligns with product strategies and future customer/market needs.
- Provide global oversite to address product-related cross-functional opportunities and challenges such as key supplier relationships, raw material shortages and regulatory changes.
- Ensures the necessary training support materials to enable Sales to understand and articulate value proposition, promote product line expansion, and drive share of wallet initiatives.
- Works with Marketing to develop and execute upon QH technical programs
- Leads, coaches and mentors resources that support the product management function.
Home based office with travel to customer sites and company offices/laboratories for required meetings
Travel (25 - 50 %). Global Travel.
What we look for
- Bachelor’s Degree required. MS/MBA preferred in Chemistry, Engineering, or any relevant application.
- 15+ years’ experience of customer facing technical roles, preferably with global experience with increasing leadership responsibilities in a B2B global organization(s).
