Microbiologist III

Position Summary:

Autonomously set up and perform the relevant tests in order to understand the origin of customer related issues. Provide data and suggestions for suitable solutions for customers under general direction of the manager/supervisor or in assistance to a more senior level Microbiologist. Provide guidance to junior level Microbiologists.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Independently develop and perform specified tests, in order to answer questions and address complex
  • Customer problems. Develop and perform customer requested product analysis and testing.
  • When necessary, collect missing data to improve quality of testing.
  • Investigate customer problems deeper if needed and be able to answer broader questions from the internal sales department or customers.
  • Design, develop, and implement specified tests and determinations, in order to answer questions and address problems of customers. Develop and perform customer requested product analysis and testing.
  • Provide technical service and knowledge to customers and sales team members.
  • Apply a high-quality standard in reporting results including recommendations to enhance technical exchange. Provide solutions verbally or in report when needed.
  • Expertise in field and customer processes
  • Perform routine microbiological testing (e.g. biochallenge test, LR test) on research and customer samples according to written test methods and work instructions.
  • Train and guide more junior level microbiologists and trainees in executing routine testing
  • Maintain equipment glassware and workspace in order to keep them clean and well-functioning. Properly dispose of all laboratory waste. Participate in ensuring good management of laboratory equipment and storage spaces for chemicals and raw materials. Comply with housekeeping rules.
  • Ensure that all equipment and machines in your area of control are managed with regards to safety, maintenance, calibration, and availability.
  • Perform decontamination procedures in the lab.
  • Perform project work in cooperation with a variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Support product development by making recommendations to formulating chemists.
  • Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality responsibilities:
  • Comply with the applicable regulations and standards regarding quality, safety, environmental as well as the occupational health standards in order to minimize risks in these areas and to create opportunities and chances for improvement.

Education, Experience, Skills & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Biology related discipline, preferably Microbiology, is required
  • 5+ years related microbiology experience required. Equivalent combination of education (minimum bachelor’s degree) and experience will be considered.
  • Language Ability: A good command of the English language is mandatory. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software and Database software.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no managerial responsibilities for this position but may train and guide more junior level microbiologist and trainees in executing routine testing.
  • Competencies: Position holder has good communication skills and has interest and ability in working at a team and cooperates well at various levels in the organization. Position holder is characterized by the following competencies: analytical skills, service oriented, takes initiative, is well organized and flexible. Is able to understand own growth needs/improvements area and define goals together with the manager in order to achieve missing knowledge/abilities.
