Position Summary:
The Vice President of Global Tax is a key member of the Finance leadership team and is responsible for developing, leading, and executing the company’s global tax strategy. The incumbent will oversee all aspects of global tax planning, compliance, and reporting for a multinational, publicly traded organization. Ensure the company maintains compliance with international, federal, state, and local tax laws while optimizing the global tax position and supporting business initiatives.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive global tax strategy that aligns with the company’s business goals and growth plans.
- Ensure compliance with all global tax regulations and reporting requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and SEC disclosures
- Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and related financial statement disclosures.
- Drive tax planning initiatives to optimize effective tax rate (ETR), cash tax savings, and mitigate risk.
- Oversee global transfer pricing policies and documentation, including intercompany pricing, economic analyses, and country-by-country reporting.
- Manage tax audits and disputes globally; serve as the primary contact with tax authorities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Legal, Treasury, and Corporate Development to support business transactions and expansion efforts.
- Evaluate and advise on the tax implications of M&A, reorganizations, and other corporate transactions.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing global tax team.
- Monitor and assess tax legislative developments globally and their impact on the company.
- Maintain strong governance and internal control frameworks around tax processes and reporting.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master’s Degree preferred. JD/LLM preferred.
- CPA, MST, LLM, or JD preferred.
- Plans and directs all aspects of the organization's tax policies and objectives.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations while working to minimize tax liability and maximize after-tax profits
- CPA certification strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of combined public and multi-national corporate experience, including leadership roles in large public companies
Competencies:
- Deep expertise in U.S. federal income taxation, international tax, tax accounting (ASC 740), and transfer pricing.
- Experience managing a global tax function within a publicly traded company.
- Strong knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and SOX compliance.
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing tax teams.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate across global functions
- Experience in global treasury functions.
- Experience managing cash across multiple countries and legal entities.
- Experience with mitigating FX exposure via hedges, terms or other mechanisms.
- Experience and familiarity working with lenders and negotiating debt agreements. Strong understanding of bank and lender markets. Desire to partner with CEO, CFO, and external institutions to explore optimal long-term capital structure for growing business.
